The Bedstee Boutique Capsule Hotel

Absolutely a five star hostel experience! Everything about De Bedstee was wonderful! For. The moment you walk in the door, you feel like you are in a boutique hotel. The decor was bright and modern. The furniture was bold and the wallpaper! Velour wallpaper! Come on now! The vibe was not only bright, but it was comfortable and inviting. The pods were extremely comfy and cozy., yet spacious. The showers and toilets were clean and more well appointed than I would expect of a hostel. More than any of this, the staff were amazing people. I shared so many laughs and wonderful conversations with them in my few short days. THIS IS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABOUT. Even if everything else in this beautiful hostel was mediocre, the staff made it all exceptional! I appreciate them so much and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to go back when in Amsterdam. Thank you so much, my new friends!

De Bedstee executes the capsule hotel concept very well, providing a semi-private space cheaply. However, the staff was very disappointing during my stay yesterday. I arrived late (~22h) on a cold night and they did not answer the door although I rang 3 times. When I knocked loudly receptionist Max finally heard me but when I told him about the doorbell he casually said that he was aware that it didn't work: no note or mention that they would get it fixed. 2 guests after me experienced the same problem. I was able to witness that because of a worse issue: the receptionist insisted that I pay a €50 deposit. Unfortunately I had left my wallet at home in Brussels (my bad) and only had €10 cash. I pleaded for understanding and stayed calm & polite throughout. The receptionist could not even explain what the deposit was for (there's no minibar or anything) so a friend of mine actually had to travel 25 minutes to the hotel and 25 minutes back (late at night) to pay the stupid deposit. Finally, I was probably the first person on the top floor to shower at ~7 AM but the bathroom and shower floors were pretty dirty, with hairs and other muck everywhere :(

I simply gonna say that of what an experience could be on this capsule hotel, it went beyond my expectations, everything extremely clean, really nice comfy capsules, lovely kitchen zone and bar, the staff was incredible , 24 hours available. Specially the Portuguese young man and the lady in the evening. Location amazing everything nice and easy.

This was a fantastic hotel! The location is right by the museum quarter and the city is easily walkable from there. There is also a nearby tram stop. Unlike many other capsule hotels, the air conditioning was excellent. The capsules were cool, comfortable, and larger than expected (based on my experience in a double capsule). Shared bathrooms were very clean and towels were provided. The capsules each have a keycard type reader for access and you need a code to enter the building. You can keep your more valuable items locked in your capsule and there is a luggage closet (shared, no lock) for suitcases or large backpacks. Reception was very kind and helpful. My only complaint is that it is a bit expensive for being a capsule hostel-type accommodation.
